I am an experienced Educator (I have a Doctorate in Education) having worked in Higher Education for 16 years. As such, I have many years of experience in helping students (and staff), both in group settings and one-to-one to achieve their goals.
I have been practicing Pilates for 9 years and originally practiced it to help with anxiety, and later used it to manage lower back pain. I am passionate about how Pilates can help so many people but am particularly interested in using Pilates to support positive mental health. I am now a qualified Mat Pilates Instructor, having undertaken exams and practical training in Level 3 Anatomy and Physiology; Principles of Exercise, Fitness and Health; Supporting Clients who take part in exercise and practical assessments for planning and delivering Pilates classes. I also have undertaken a specialist course in Pilates for Older adults.
I am now undertaking Comprehensive Pilates training with Polestar Pilates which will allow me to work 1:1 with clients, specialising in rehabilitation Pilates (equipment based) and providing positive movement experiences, without pain.
I have lived in Solihull since 1995 with Ken (who also practices Pilates) and we have two sons, Sam and Henry.
I am a member of CIMPSA; the single chartered professional body for the sport, fitness, leisure and physical activity sector.
